About Mozambique
The Republic of Mozambique is situated on the south-eastern coast of Africa. It borders Tanzania to the north, Zambia, Malawi and Zimbabwe to the west and South Africa and Eswatini to the south. This location puts the country in a strategic position in the Southern African region with its ports giving easy access to international markets and being the first choice for regional importers and exporters. Mozambique is an attractive destination for investments.
The Republic of Mozambique covers an area of over 800,000 sq.km, two times the size of Japan. The 2,750 Km long coastline boasts superb beaches fringed by lagoons, coral reefs and strings of small islands.
The official and business language is Portuguese. Local languages include Bitonga, Chope, Chuabo, Chimakonde, Elomwe, Emakua, Kimwani, Ndau, Nyanja, Nyungwe, Sena, Shangane, Shona, Shimakonde, Ronga, and Xitswa. The president serves as the Head of State of Mozambique, which gained independence on June 25, 1975, and held its first multi-party elections in 1994.
The Republic of Mozambique offers favourable conditions for tourism in its various segments, namely: leisure, business, sporting events (fishing, kite surfing, coastal tourism, etc.) and cultural events (traditional dances, festivals, music, etc.), cruises, ocean safaris (observation of the big five marine creatures – sharks, manta rays, dolphins, dugongs, sea turtles – diving, snorkelling), observation of fauna and flora, landscapes and birds. Mozambique has a comparative advantage in the region due to its strategic location, which includes a vast coastline with paradisiacal beaches and islands that complement the country’s inland areas, as well as the combination of its jungle and sea.
