Visa waiver program
The Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique has the honour to inform that, according to Decree No. 10/2023 of March 31, 2023, citizens holding ordinary passports from 29 countries, including Japan and the Republic of Korea, who intend to travel to Mozambique, for tourism and business purposes, are exempt from presenting entry visas.
Citizens covered by this exemption are allowed multiple entries for a period of 30 days from the date of the first entry. This period may be extended for an additional 30 days, upon justification, and the request must be submitted through the website or at the Local Immigration Office in the area of accommodation.
This exemption does not exempt citizens from complying with the Legal Formalities Relating to Entry, Stay and Exit, applicable in the Republic of Mozambique, such as:
a) Be the holder of a passport with a remaining validity of no less than six (6) months;
b) The citizen cannot be in a situation of prohibition to enter the Republic of Mozambique;
c) Present a copy of the return flight ticket;
d) Present a copy of proof of accommodation.
Citizens eligible for the exemption regime must complete the pre-registration* through the website(www.evisa.gov.mz) at least 48 hours before departure.
*The pre-registration is temporarily suspended.
Therefore, if you clear the following 4 points, you can enter Mozambique without pre-registration.
1) Presentation of a passport that is valid for more than 6 months
2) Presentation of round-trip air ticket reservation confirmation (only when entering and leaving the country by air)
3) Presentation of a booking confirmation of accommodations in Mozambique
4) Payment of 650 Meticais (equivalent to 1400 Yen) fee (Payment can be made by credit card, Metical cash, USD cash)
As soon as the pre-registration system resumes, we will inform you on our website. (Updated July 14, 2023)
