On July 4, 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Mozambique in Japan held a National Independence Day Commemoration Ceremony with the Mozambican community in Japan, at the United Nations University in Tokyo. The event also was attended by officials from MOFA and JICA who had served on official missions in Mozambique.

During the event, the progress made in the country’s development since the proclamation of national independence was highlighted, as were the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation between Mozambique and Japan.
